The Adventure

In August 2013, we will head to the UK to sail in the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race. This race certainly won't be a pleasure cruise, but we are excited for the challenge of a lifetime. We will be racing in Leg 2, which will take us from Brazil to South Africa and we feel our campaign to raise money and sponsorship to sail in this race offers a great opportunity to impact the lives of others. Please look through the pages on this site to learn more about us, the race, the charity, and the donation process. Also, be sure to check back to this site and our Facebook page often, as we will update with pictures once training and preparations for the race begin.

Meet Jenna Ferrieri and William Markuske. After graduating from the Webb Institute of Naval Architecture (William in 2010 and Jenna in 2011), both of us are pursuing Master's of Engineering at Memorial University in St. John's Newfoundland. We also work as test engineers for Oceanic Consulting conducting hydrodynamic research for all things marine.

Jenna is an avid sailor who grew up on the south shore of Long Island. An adventure seeker, Jenna is always looking for her next great trip. With this journey Jenna hopes to expand her offshore sailing base while testing her physical and mental strength. This race will also aid Jenna in her goal to visit all seven continents.

William's sailing experience is more limited, but he is an endurance sports enthusiast from St. Petersburg, Florida. On this race, Will hopes that his fellow crew members will not be put off by his cooking skills. Will's ultimate goal is to circumnavigate the world--something his father and brother have done on larger ships.
Major Sponsors

We would like to thank those companies and major contributors who are making this adventure possible:

First we would like to thank Icebreaker Clothing. Icebreaker makes fine outdoor clothing made from New Zealand Merino wool. This stuff is perfect for any sailing, hiking, or outdoor activity you can throw at it. Made from the wool of Merino sheep in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, it is perfectly made for extreme climates. Check them out at www.icebreaker.com!

We would also like to thank our newest sponsor, Ocean Minded.  Ocean Minded is a shoe and apparel company founded on the idea that everything eventually ends up in the ocean.  In addition to selling products, Ocean Minded has been organizing community beach clean-ups around the world and educating customers on the importance of leaving their chosen playgrounds in better condition then when they were found.  You can learn more at www.oceanminded.com.
